Paths for a decolonial perspective of memory

Abstract

The present article, derived from cartographic research on the memory of participants in an antimanicomial struggle collective XXX in the city of XXX, seeks to think about memory and its uses from a decolonial perspective, using other theoretical references. During the course of accompanying the political actions of the collective, the dimension of political control over a single history strained the academic approach with other theoretical references, from the decolonial critique, through the perspective of difference and the epistemological insubordination of knowledge models within science. From this encounter with diverse authors and perspectives, two paths opened up to think about the field of memory: from the border relations between knowledges and positions of disobedience, and the action of memory as a counter-colonialist practice. These paths helped us to think about memory as an object of resistance production within political spaces of historical erasure and its potency as a position of insubordination to dominations.
